Care Caterers

This page is for Care Caterers suppliers and contains information and advice on simple ways to support older people to maintain their health and wellbeing.

Fred’s story

Listen to Fred talk about living with swallowing difficulties following an illness. For Fred, trying different meals which suited his needs made a real difference and helped him to enjoy food again.

For more than 30 years, the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) has been committed to raising standards of care catering and championing the positive impact nutrition, hydration and mealtimes have on the physical and emotional health and wellbeing of older people and vulnerable people in care settings.

Since the Coronavirus outbreak began, the NACC has been monitoring the situation closely.  We have been sharing any guidance and information, in line with government guidance, with members and through our website and social media channels.

We are posting News Stories and Best Practise from our members and partners on our website to share knowledge and ideas.

A listing of Food Distributors that can help out during the crisis is available on the NACC website. This list supports Meals on Wheels services and care homes who may be having problems accessing their usual food supply.

The pressure on care catering teams is being felt across the sector. To help members source additional staff, we are using our Jobs Board to advertise any temporary vacancies on the website, free of charge.

For more information please visit the NACC website: www.thenacc.co.uk or contact them by email info@thenacc.co.uk

Extremely Vulnerable

The Government has introduced 'shielding' measures for the extremely vulnerable. Shielding is a measure to protect people who are clinically extremely vulnerable by minimising all interaction between themselves and others. The NHS in England is directly contacting people with these conditions to provide further advice, which includes not leaving the house, even for food shopping.

We know this must be an incredibly worrying time, so if you have received a letter from the NHS and have been identified as extremely vulnerable, we will do our very best to help you by delivering delicious frozen ready meals to your door.

To place an order with us simply call our friendly team on this priority number 0800 046 5614. Please pay by card if you possibly can to reduce contact with the delivery driver. All our deliveries are currently 'no-contact' as standard, helping you reduce face-to-face contact with others. If you do need help putting your meals away though, please mention this when ordering, and remember to let the team know that you are classed as 'Extremely Vulnerable' so they can help you as best they can.

Please only use this phone number if you have been contacted by the NHS confirming that you are extremely vulnerable. This will ensure we are able to prioritise those who really need us.

We are very proud of the food and service we provide and will support you in any way we can.
