A la Carted is Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable's home meal delivery service which provides nice hot fresh cooked meals to the tables of older people in the local area. Operating seven days a week, they prepare and cook a hot meal in their kitchens and deliver it onto your plate.
The service has made a real difference for older people in the area, like Rose and her husband who have been receiving the meals on and off for 3 years.
Rose cares for her husband and orders meals when she’s been in hospital or if she’s been unable to cook for herself and her husband due to ill health. Rose has had a series of illnesses which have made life challenging at times.
For Rose, the Meals Delivery Service has made a real difference:
“Nutrition wise it has been a godsend. It’s home cooked and served hot. It also puts my mind at rest knowing there’s proper food coming to us every day. I’m sure that having the meals has helped me get better quicker because of the quality of the food: it’s fresh, it also takes the worry away”.
“ The quality of the cooking is second to none, it’s good, honest fresh food, there’s fresh vegetables and good quality meat that’s cooked in a scrupulously clean kitchen”.
Rose also feels that that having someone deliver the meals every day is important as it also means someone can check how they are and would get help if needed.
